4 Days Mount Meru

Your adventure begins with a morning transfer from Arusha to Momella Gate, where you complete registration and park formalities before starting your trek.

The trail enters the beautiful montane forest of Arusha National Park. The lower slopes are rich in vegetation and wildlife, and depending on conditions, you may encounter giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, and a variety of bird species. A park ranger accompanies trekkers on sections where required.

Continue gradually through the forest toward Miriakamba Hut, enjoying views of the surrounding landscape as the elevation increases.

After arriving at camp, settle in, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.

Overnight: Miriakamba Hut

Distance: Approximately 8 km
Trekking Time: 3–5 hours
Elevation: 2,514 m → 3,570 m

After breakfast, begin the climb toward Saddle Hut. The trail gradually becomes steeper as the forest transitions into the moorland zone.

The changing vegetation opens up spectacular views of Mount Meru's volcanic landscape and surrounding areas. Take your time to enjoy the scenery while maintaining a comfortable trekking pace.

After reaching Saddle Hut, settle in and have lunch before taking an optional acclimatization walk toward Little Meru, approximately 3,820 metres above sea level. This short excursion provides additional altitude exposure and beautiful views.

Return to Saddle Hut for dinner and an early rest in preparation for the summit day.

Trekking Time: 8–12 hours
Summit Elevation: 4,566 m

The summit day begins in the early hours of the morning. After a light meal, begin the challenging ascent toward Socialist Peak.

The trail follows the dramatic crater rim, with increasingly rugged volcanic terrain and spectacular views. Your guide will maintain a steady pace appropriate for the altitude and conditions.

As the sun begins to rise, continue toward Socialist Peak at 4,566 metres, the highest point of Mount Meru.

Celebrate your summit achievement while taking in the breathtaking views of the volcanic crater and surrounding landscape. On clear days, Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen in the distance.

After spending time at the summit, descend carefully back toward Saddle Hut. Enjoy a well-deserved meal and rest after the demanding summit day.

Overnight: Saddle Hut

Distance: Approximately 14–15 km
Trekking Time: 5–7 hours

After breakfast, begin your descent from Saddle Hut. Follow the trail back through the moorland and forest toward Miriakamba Hut.

Continue descending through the lush lower slopes of Mount Meru, enjoying the changing scenery as you lose altitude.

Eventually arrive at Momella Gate, where you complete the park exit procedures and meet your vehicle.

Transfer back to Arusha, marking the end of your four-day Mount Meru trekking adventure.
