5 Days Rongai Route Kilimanjaro Climb
The 5 Days Rongai Route Kilimanjaro Climb is a scenic and less crowded route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Located on the northeastern side of the mountain near the Tanzania–Kenya border, the Rongai Route offers a unique perspective of Kilimanjaro and a quieter trekking experience compared to some of the more popular routes.
The route passes through diverse landscapes, from cultivated farmland and lush forests to moorland, alpine desert, and the high-altitude Arctic Zone near Uhuru Peak. One of the highlights of Rongai is the opportunity to experience the remote northern slopes of Kilimanjaro before crossing toward the eastern side of the mountain.
This 5-day itinerary is suitable for trekkers looking for a more peaceful route and those who prefer a gradual approach through relatively less-trafficked trails. However, the shorter itinerary provides limited time for acclimatization, making proper pacing and careful altitude management especially important.
The summit attempt begins from Kibo Hut, with trekkers climbing toward Gilman’s Point, Stella Point, and finally Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). After reaching the summit, you descend through the Marangu side of the mountain, giving you the opportunity to experience different scenery on your ascent and descent.
