6 Days Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climb
The 6 Days Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climb is a classic and scenic way to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” Marangu is one of the most established routes on Kilimanjaro and is popular for its relatively straightforward trail and comfortable mountain hut accommodation.
This 6-day itinerary follows the Marangu Route from the southern side of Kilimanjaro, taking you through several distinct ecological zones. The trek begins in the lush rainforest before progressing through the moorland, alpine desert, and finally the high-altitude Arctic Zone near Uhuru Peak.
A major advantage of this 6-day itinerary is the additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut. Rather than rushing directly toward Kibo, you spend an extra day exploring the surrounding area and allowing your body more time to adjust to the increasing altitude.
The summit attempt begins from Kibo Hut, usually around midnight, taking you toward Gilman’s Point, Stella Point, and finally Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet).
After reaching the summit, you descend through the same Marangu Route back to the park gate. With beautiful landscapes, hut accommodation, and an additional acclimatization day, the 6 Days Marangu Route offers a more gradual approach to the roof of Africa.
