6 Days Umbwe Route Kilimanjaro Climb
The 6 Days Umbwe Route Kilimanjaro Climb is a challenging and adventurous route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its steep trails, dramatic scenery, and relatively low traffic, the Umbwe Route is ideal for experienced trekkers looking for a more demanding approach to Africa’s highest mountain.
Starting from the southern side of Kilimanjaro, the route climbs steeply through the lush rainforest before reaching the moorland and alpine zones. As the trail gains elevation, trekkers experience dramatic views of deep valleys, rugged ridges, and the towering peaks of Kilimanjaro.
This 6-day itinerary provides a more gradual progression than the shorter Umbwe itinerary, with additional time to rest and acclimatize before the summit attempt. After joining the Southern Circuit, the route continues through Barranco, Karanga, and Barafu before the final ascent toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet).
The descent follows the Mweka Route, allowing you to experience a different landscape on the way down.
The 6 Days Umbwe Route combines steep mountain trails, spectacular scenery, a challenging summit attempt, and the rewarding experience of reaching the highest point in Africa.
